“Life consists of two days…”

Salaam and Greetings of Peace:

“Life consists of two days, one for you one against you. So when it’s for you don’t be proud or reckless, and when it’s against you be patient, for both days are tests for you.”
– Hazrat Ali Ibn Abu-Talib (A.S). Born this day, the 13th of Rajab in the lunar calendar, which falls this year on April 20th.

I love this letter to Abdillah al-Abbas. The second part is beautiful too: “The world is a house (changing) authorities. Whatever is in it for you will come to you despite your weakness; and whatever in it turns against you cannot be brought back despite your strength.”

    Good evening, Irving!

There is a lot good advice here in this quote, for it is important to realise that we get more out of life when we take its challenges seriously.

When things run smoothly, it’s so important to reject behaving proudly and or recklessly.

Instead endeavour always to be thankful. Being thankful for the gift of life and Our Creator is the most important type of thankfulness of all to desire to cultivate.

There are so many other important types of thankfulness, like being thankful for our wife and our children, for all that our parents did for us or still do, and for opportunities to serve in the community…

Everything works best if we make an honest effort to thank the Giver of life, for our attitude to Him will affect everything else we do!
When things get stormy endeavour courageously to hold firm to what you know is God’s blessing to you. Hold tight to His gift of patience and praise Him for helping you to persevere, for He does so much for us that we don’t notice.

    Have a great day!

    Josef
