A Cure for Sadness and Fear!

Salaam and Greetings of Peace:

A Muslim Sister in a far country wrote this to me recently:

I am very sad tonight. Say something. I felt very insulted and did not feel safe, but I cannot decide to go, I can not do anything to change it.

I wrote this in reply:

Make Allah your armor and the Qur’an your shield, and nothing can harm you or make you sad or frightened. Begin to read out loud from the Qur’an, and all sadness will be forced to retreat before the fierce light of love and truth. Alhamdulillah! Read until you feel safe, or you decide to go, or it changes. With every hardship comes ease, my dear Sister :) And know that my love and my prayers are with you. Ya Haqq!

What would you have written?

Ya Haqq!

  1. Dhikr also means mention implying the act of reciting aloud the Qur’an. Your answer is perfect and true. Thank you.

Well said brother……jazak Allah for the inspiring words

When we are deeply insulted it can throw us off balance. God is our healer and He restores our emotions. In Psalm 23 David witnessed that God had restored his soul. As we trust and obey Him this restoration of our soul is continous. Truly God can heal the emotional hurts of our soul. Be patient, for emotional healing by God can take some considerable time.

And yes, make God’s forgiving word your treasured armour and praise God, for the joy of Our Creator is our strength.
Truly in light of His love “unjust” sadness can’t abide.

Be encouraged for abiding joyfully and thankfully in God’s word answers all our insecurities. Be very encouraged for God still loves us during our attacks of fear. I encourage you to say several times a day with confidence, “holy God loves me!” What a glorious truth that is. Holy God, thank You for helping us to be more conscious of Your love daily.

When we accept the reality of God’s love for us, then our fears will not control us. Truly God loves us and will come through for us in our challenging times of need as we trust and obey Him attentively!

First John 4:18 says that perfect love casts out fear. If you’re afraid of facing a person or a situation in your life, God’s love which is perfect can help you put your fears to flight. Above all else, you’ll be blessed by committing yourself to abide in His perfect,
consoling, healing love. God bless you!

As a student of the Holy Bible I always encourage everyone I write to or meet to learn what Jesus gives his blessing to. The more we consistently endeavour
to say “Yes” to what He blesses we will find that we will become more emotionally secure and recover more quickly when we are unjustly offended.
Mathew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Friends, The definitive cure for sadness or the spirit of heaviness often called depression is the healing presence of God. Truly He longs for us to cherish His holy word daily and for us to seek Him through study and prayer for His daily spiritual nourishment.

God longs for us to thank, praise and worship Him reverentially. He truly is a King to exalt. We do this most effectively by willingly and joyfully daily submitting our will to His will.

God longs for us to highly esteem the importance of coming before Him for the forgiveness of sins and to understand our duty before our fellowman is to initiate the forgiving process. May God continue to richly bless you all!

Thank you all for the kind comments, and thank you brother Joseph for your always insightful thoughts :) I personally believe firmly in spiritual evolution, and know that every good deed, every kind word, every good thought, every prayer, every gathering invoking His name, is part of our spiritual evolution toward God, which is as certain and scientific as our biological evolution.

    Peace and blessings, and…

    Ya Haqq!

Ma’sha Allah. That is beautiful and I also needed to be reminded that the Quran is a balm for us. Thank you.

Dear Irving, Thank you for your very kind comments!
Friends, One of the most wonderful discoveries that we can discover, with God’s help, is that gracious words proceed out of Jesus’ mouth. Such was the purity of his heart that when he spoke desiring to heal the brokenhearted they were healed and them that were bruised were set at liberty!

Friends, no matter how severe your bruising is you can decide to put your trust in the Holy One who can compassionately set you at liberty,

Luke4:16And he (Jesus) came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up
    for to read.

17And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias(Isaiah). And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

18The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach
deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

22And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth…

Mark 10:17-27 – The Rich Young Ruler

Friends, I encourage you to read this absorbing encounter between Jesus and the the rich young man.

Where had this man gone astray? His self-identity was inextricably linked with his possessions. His error was that the foundation of his lifestyle was his wealth and when the foundation of our life isn’t the word of God we will become self-focused, self-reliant and self-sufficient and live a self-willed life.

What did Jesus require of this man? He required him to make a change of direction. He was being challenged by Jesus to decide to stop bowing down before material things, for he had made a god out of them.

How can we get eternal life? The first thing to understand is that God is calling us to a genuine thoroughgoing repentance! Friends, it is always by repentance that we draw closer to God.

Although this man went away sad he still had the opportunity to say “Yes” to the marvelous cry of Golgotha that the work of Jesus is finished. Friends, if you are aching to know everlasting life then you have to be willing to trust and obey the words of Jesus.
You have to be willing to submit your mind to God’s teachings, for He is the great Teacher. You have to be willing to bow your will to His commandments, for He is our sovereign King!

God says, “Let me, the one true and living God, become your first focus. Allow yourself to find your highest joy and satisfaction and fulfillment in me.”
Friends, it is always by repentance that we draw closer to God. There is no way that anyone can get to God while bypassing repentance.

Why didn’t the young man go away happy? He didn’t have a broken heart over his sinning. There has to be a broken heart. There has to be the painful turning from what has been our god or gods until this moment in a spirit of repentance, turning to the mighty living God whom hitherto we have failed to glorify.

Friends, Entrust yourself to God’s compassionate care and He will teach you most graciously and gloriously that faith and repentance are inseparable.

Don’t allow yourselves any longer to fall into the same trap as the rich young ruler who left sad the holy One who was speaking peace to his soul, He went away sad, because he had great wealth. He went away without eternal life. He went away still as an unbeliever. Make your treasured home where Jesus’s words are and God will continue to bless you, so that you can truly hallow His holy name. God bless you.
