Islamic Theory of Evolution and the Big Bang!

Salaam and Greetings of Peace:

“Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one united piece, and then We parted them? And We have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?”  – Qur’an 21:30

“then He turned to the heaven (sky) when it was still gas (smoke) and said to it, and to the earth, “come into existence, willingly or unwillingly” and they said “we come willingly.” – Qur’an 41:11

Alhamdulillah! I find it fascinating, no matter what the critics and detractors say, that only Islam through the Noble Qur’an rightly says that all life originated and evolved from the sea and is mostly water. And Islam alone of the three “Peoples of the Book” states that the universe originated from dust and hot gas or smoke, as described in the Big Bang theory of creation.

The science is of course much more complex and exacting, but no other religion even suggested it 1400 years ago.

i dunno irving, genesis ch. 1 says spirit of god moved on the waters.. n everything came from there..

    Salaam Dear Sister Norah:

The spirit of God moving over the waters does say very much about how life was created.

I know it is difficult to make scientific or logical sense of a metaphor such as the story of Genesis, but this much is obvious:

(1:1-2:3) The Genesis 1 account conflicts with the order of events that are known to science.

In Genesis 1:1, the earth and “heaven” are created together “in the beginning,” whereas according to current estimates, the earth and universe are about 4.6 and 13.7 billion years old, respectively.

In Genesis, the earth is created (1:1) before light (1:3), sun and stars (1:16); birds and whales (1:21) before reptiles and insects (1:24); and flowering plants (1:11) before any animals (1:20). The order of events known from science is in each case just the opposite.

And, as always, God knows the truth!

    Alhamdulillah !!! It’s good one…

  4. someon says:

Would Gods creation change if even there is something in the Quran that is not according to recent scientific discoveries?
    Does it make any difference?

Moreover, does it diminish the (hidden) truth of what is in the Bible or Qoran, or every other scripture?

It is as if you want to test scriptures against the touchstone of reason, which is no valuable measure at all

Why compare religions in this way, this just has nothing to do with reality

I am sure you do know better, or were you just provoking us?

    Ya haqq
