On Wednesday, April 29, 2009, President Barack Obama will have been the leader of the free world for 100 days. To commemorate the occasion, here is a poem dedicated with love that always makes me think of him.
I, too, sing America.
I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
When company comes,
But I laugh,
And eat well,
And grow strong.
Tomorrow,
I’ll be at the table
When company comes.
Nobody’ll dare
Say to me,
“Eat in the kitchen,”
Then.
Besides,
They’ll see how beautiful I am
And be ashamed–
100 Days of Barack Obama – I, too, sing America
Salaam and Greetings of Peace:
