I really do love your beautiful words. However I still do feel it is almost impossible to live in the society of the West without contributing to the cruel exploitation of human beings, animals and their environment. We can all say beautiful things and tell the truth to each other, but what does this mean for the people and the animals who really suffer for our cruel and seemingly unavoidable Western lifestyles?

Who of us on this part of the globe is really prepared bear the concequences and risk his or her own comfort and reputation?

We all seem to know that we are doing wrong, that our aid industry is usually only making things worse. To be able to really serve people and be charitable is a privilige and this very privilige itself is leading us astray from our original intentions…

Because in reality we are afraid of the other. We do want to serve, however when it comes down to giving up the very priviliges that sustain oppression and taking risks we do run away behind huge fences, security guards and border police.

Does God want all this?!?
