O Lord, we humbly thank Thee for the bounty of our table, when so many in the world go hungry. And we thank Thee for our family and friends, when so many in the world walk alone.
O God, grant that we who are filled with good things from Your open hand, may never close our hearts to the hungry, the homeless, and the poor.
Thank you for the kind words on this day of giving thanks for all that God has given us from His open hand of generosity and mercy. It is only a reflection of that endless mercy to remember those less fortunate in the world. Really, there are no words in any language that can praise God enough. As Imam Ali (may Allah bless him) says in the Sahifa al-Kamilah:
O God,
no one reaches a limit in thanking Thee
without acquiring that of Thy beneficence
which enjoins upon him thanksgiving,
nor does anyone reach a degree in obeying Thee,
even if he strives,
without falling short of what Thou deservest
because of Thy bounty.
Assalamu alaikum Dear Irving Darvish,
your sharing of such succinct beauty seems to emanate from the source of ‘giving thanks’, SubhanAllah!
Ali ibn Abi Talib RadhiAllahu anhu said:
“The world is perishable and has no duration;
It is like a cobweb.
Oh you, who expect from it,
Remember, it is enough that it nourishes you.”
Wassalamu alaikum
Happy Thanksgiving:
May god give you
for every storm, a rainbow
for every tear, a smile
for every care, a promise
And a blessing in each trial
For every problem life sends
A faithful friend to share
for every sigh, a sweet song
and answer for each prayer…
I’ve just started a second blog, an attempt to reinvigorate my desire to blog and also to measure the effects of a different style of blogging. Ameen! What a beautiful thanksgiving prayer… I love it. Thank you brother Irving, you’re a wonder! :)
